Both head frames above shafts1 and 2 of the Zweckel colliery have been preserved along with the engine house. In 1988 the group of buildings were listed as historical monument. In 1997 the Zweckel engine house was taken over by the Foundation for Industrial Monuments. Since 1999 this imposing hall has gradually developed into a popular place for occasional artistic and cultural events.
